Texas AFL-CIO Constitutional Convention
Awards
Every two years at its regular Constitutional Convention, the Texas AFL-CIO will present these awards to selected recipients.

Please return your nomination forms or entries to the Texas AFL-CIO by April 1, 2025.

Community Services Award
The Community Services Award program recognizes exemplary efforts of union members and union organizations in pursuing the goals of the Texas AFL-CIO Community Services Program.
ELIGIBILITY
-
Nominations must be in one of these three categories:
-
Individual union members
-
Local unions (lodges, branches, etc.)
-
AFL-CIO Central Labor Councils (CLCs)
-

Nominees must be organizations currently affiliated with the Texas AFL-CIO, or members of organizations affiliated with the Texas AFL-CIO.
-
The nominee’s Community Services activities must have taken place between April 1, 2023 and March 1, 2025.

SELECTION CRITERIA
-
The nominee’s activities produced one special significant event or accomplishment of an outstanding nature, or produced a continuing series of valuable contributions and service.
-
The nominee’s efforts resulted in a significant positive development or impact in the local community.
-
A noteworthy commitment of time and energy was invested by the individual or organization.
-
The efforts raised the level of awareness of the AFL-CIO Community Services Program, and promoted its development in their local union and/or CLC.

Publications Award
The Community Services Award program recognizes exemplary efforts of union organizations in communicating with members and the public.

ELIGIBILITY
-
Nominations must be in one of these categories:
-
Central Labor Councils/State Associations;
-
Local unions with up to 999 members;
-
Local unions with 1,000 or more members;
-
Special Publication, including calendars, bulletins, alerts, blogs, and significant social media posts.

Entries must have been published between April 1, 2023 and March 1, 2025.

The entry must be either affiliated with or sponsored by the submitting labor organization, and the labor organization must be affiliated with the Texas AFL-CIO.

A printed publication must be printed by a union printer and display the accompanying union bug that authenticates a union print job.

In-house publications, including those printed or photocopied at union offices, remain eligible. Please make note of any in-house production with your entry.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Publications will be judged by a panel based on:
-
interest to members;
-
clarity and quality of writing;
-
design and appearance;
-
overall quality of production;
-
ease of access to publication.
